Partners

A wide range of partners across the City work together to deliver the Plymouth History Festival, which is led by Plymouth City Council’s Arts and Heritage Service.

In 2014 and 2015, the Festival was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We are hugely grateful for this support which has enabled us to establish the Festival as a key feature on the city events calendar.

Through the Arts and Heritage Service the Festival also receives support from Arts Council England.

Many thanks to the many different venues, speakers, tour guides, performers and workshop facilitators that take part each year. We couldn’t do it without you.

  1. Can you tell me if the Mount Edgcumbe Fair is running on Saturday 4th May, heard a report that it was cancelled.

    1. Dear John
I’m sorry to say that we have just had confirmation that the Fair has been cancelled. Our apologies for flagging up incorrect information but we’ve only just been told. Hopefully there will plenty of other History Festival events that interest you between now and the end of May!
      Best wishes

  2. Great programme of events, but it would have been really nice if someone had thought to contact the council’s Historic Environment Officers – I would have loved to have been involved!

    Maybe next year…….

    1. Hi Rachel

Many thanks for your feedback. We will definitely make sure we get in touch with you when we start planning for next year (which probably won’t be too far in the future!)

Best wishes and thanks for your interest/support,

  3. I would just like to say a big thank you for the excellent work you have done in promoting the city’s history. Plymouth has such a rich heritage and we are finally doing something to celebrate this. I studied history at Plymouth Uni and am from Plymouth living currently in London so when I come back next weekend I’ll be sure to visit some of the excellent talks and exhibitions on offer. Thank you and I hope you get a lot of support for this brilliant festival.

    1. Hi Laura

Many thanks for your positive feedback – it’s always great to get comments like this. Hope you enjoy whatever events you go along to when you are back in Plymouth next weekend!

      Best wishes

Pity there is no telephone no. To call.

    1. Thanks for your comments. Apologies for the misprint. It is Thursday. The organiser has chosen not to provide a telephone number but I will pass this on. Kind regards, Louisa.

  5. Is there someone I could contact regarding the Battle of Jutland talks you are doing – I have a relative that was involved with the battle and have some memorabilia from it.

    1. Dear Kelly – thanks for your message. Have you tried contacting the Devonport Naval Heritage Centre? 01752 552907 (during working hours) or e-mail: navynbcd-nblo@mod.uk They also have a Facebook page. Hope this helps! Best wishes.

  6. I am a History and was looking forward to get my students involved but I don’t any activity aimed at secondary schools 😦

    1. Dear Karine – many thanks for your message. Now the full History Festival programme is live is there anything on it that you think your students would be interested in attending? Most of the events can cope with group bookings. Best wishes and thanks.
